BE A SPEAKER
Join the PSW Youth Careers Speakers Bureau. Select speaker events based on your interests and availability. 2 hour commitment per event
Help young adults in Metro Southwest learn about careers by sharing your stories, expertise and encouragement. Your passion speaks volumes to young people who are searching for direction. Events such as the Marlborough STEM Expo are opportunities to interact with promising students, either as judges in project competitions or as presenters.
BE A MENTOR
Meet in small groups or one-on-one settings to share your experience and guide students toward a career pathway. 2 hour commitment, 4 times during the school year
Mentor relationships encourage learning and growth and play a critical role in building confidence, knowledge and grit in young adults. Our program helps students acquire critical skills such as researching industries and building professional networks. We pair students with mentors in the growth sectors that match their interests, skills and potential.
HOST A JOB SHADOW OR SITE VISIT
Provide a tour of one or more departments as well as an informational interview. 4-6 hour commitment
There is no substitute for experience, and job shadowing is a valuable way to introduce young talent to your industry. Site tours and job shadowing may be offered to individuals or small groups, depending on the interests and availability of individual employers. Visits may include: panel discussions, Q&As, department tours, hands-on activities and refreshments.
HIRE INTERNS OR EMPLOYEES
Hire an intern for a project or fill an opening with a qualified young adult. Time commitment based on company needs
It is a win-win proposition when employers provide young talent with work experience.
Employers can create new projects or delegate tasks for students to complete during customized two to eight week internships. PSW tailors work experience to the needs of employers. Hiring a young adult provides positive outcomes that improve your bottom line. Young adults bring fresh perspectives, trainability, tech skills and potential recruits.
